Sign in using your taobao account.
To chat - go to taobao vendor, click on the blue bubble and start chatting.
I use hanping lite android app to help with difficult Chinese words.
If you are using taobao agents, inform your agent you have negotiated with seller for a lower price, its useful to copy the conversation to sent to your agent when ordering.

Always compare prices with other stores for the item you're intending to buy. If the price difference is too great then be cautious - check the store ratings, number of transactions and read the reviews for information like complaints or praises to decide the verity of the store.

You could also copy the item description in Chinese and paste on search bar, sometimes you need to chop off a few Chinese words in front or back to show more searches turning up. Play around with the words description.

By default shipping is charged for every item, so if you are buying 2 items from the same store you'll be charged twice for domestic shipping. You can by using chat request seller to charge 1 time shipping instead of 2 or reduced shipping amount for more items and at checkout contact the seller by writing 请帮我改一下运费 and wait for the price to be re-adjusted before paying. You must have a taobao account to chat with seller.
If you're using agent to buy for you, request the agent to bargain down the domestic shipping, usually agents are helpful but they don't tell you how to save on cost. The agents earn commissions on your purchases you have the right to request good service.

For big items, especially furniture, I read one could bargain down the price by a big difference, I don't know it works for all sellers or just some. Get a friend who is proficient in Chinese to negotiate. You can buy a set of furniture and arrange to ship by sea.

- Not bad, like the fabric, need minor alterations.

The transaction record show how many pieces has been sold by vendor.

Taobao is a Chinese version of ebay, they don't accept paypal and most foreign credit cards. Payment is the main setback for overseas buyers, agents are needed to buy for them.
